Target Audience Member Profile

In order to gain a specific view on our particular target audience I have created a profile with a more detailed view into the people of which the music and video would appeal to most. We interviewed people that fitted our demographics, and from that we have also created this profile on their likes, dislikes and preferances towards rock music videos.

Interests, likes and dislikes:

For Film and TV James's favourite genres are comedy and sci-fi for example shows like 'Big Bang Theory' and 'Family Guy' whereas in films he tends to go for the sci-fi side e.g. 'Star Trek' or 'Alien'.
Conclusively, James enjoys watching something that is deemed as pure entertainment and which always keeps the viewer's attention and does not hold a moment of boredom.

For Music James enjoys the louder and faster paced side such as metal, punk and the earlier side of rock e.g. Queen, and loves the idea of power behind the music i.e. loud strumming of electric guitars and introducing difficult guitar solos, to compliment this James expects the same of music videos that he watches, the power not only has to be obvious to the viewer within the music, but also within the music video, as visual representation and some times can also be as important.

Interests, likes and dislikes:

For Film and TV Ben enjoys watching the more cultural side of media, this includes the classics of films instead of the newly released up to date ones, e.g. 'Silent Running', 'Blade Runner' and 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly'. This is because he believes the story and plot of these films is better than newer films in present day and prefers these over a film filled with action and gore. For TV Ben's taste is generally the same as his film taste is, preferring the older comedy shows, and cartoons, as well as some anime which shows his diversity for culture, as well as his taste for vintage shows that present a different environment to present day.

For Music Ben enjoys a diverse variety of music genres ranging from mainstream to niche e.g. Jazz and Early Rock. His favourite band is 'The Who' of which can be described as those of the early rock genre, like James, Ben also enjoys seeing that power in the music e.g. with a heavy guitar strumming or a heavy bassline. Ben also dislikes most modern day music, especially within mainstream media, so artists such as boy bands and pop stars do not appeal to him, as in his opinion it is not so much the music, but the image of the artists themselves which give him distaste to their songs.

Psychographics of our Target Audience

From the interviews of our Target Audience and through the information we have gathered we have found that through likes, dislikes and iterests our Target Audience generally prefer a diverse range of music, but not so much within the modern, mainstream genre as so much that they prefer the performance of the band themselves with musical capabilities instead of just a video of a single person/band of people singing for 5 minutes. From the information we have gathered we also come to the conclusion that our Target Audience do enjoy more modern day activities such as playing video games and interacting within social media such as Facebook or Twitter.
